It has to start some time...

This site has many wonderful features to help improve communication and cooperation in the planetarium community, like this blog. We should all start using these great features.

I, for one, plan to blog for the good of the planetarium community as a whole.

One the recent conversation on DomeL involved the challenges facing an increasing number of planetariums, content for low budget, fulldome systems. The discussion brought to light different points of view on fulldome content.

The prevailing… Continue

You've got such a cool picture!

Thanks for the congratulatory message on the opening of the Ghana Planetarium.

With the preparations for the opening and everything I really haven't had much time for looking at how to load the stills on the Mediaglobe. I will try and look at them next week.

There are two volunteers here now from the UK and one of them is going to work on helping to get the scripting going, including images. He may have some questions that I will pass along to you.

Jason,

Are you far enough along in production of Duck that we could talk about licensing? Even if the show isn't done, I'd like to discuss bringing the show to my place.

Thanks...Mark (mpercy@williamsvillek12.org)

Gotcha, setting four different channels to output the scene. I'll have to give that a spin when I have some time.

Yes, but I ran into some issues with the size parameters in DS2. It wouldn't let me output anything over ~1500 square. They have a new version coming out soon that's more of an overhaul than an update, and I'm looking forward to trying again with that.

Hey there! "Nine Planets and Counting" is DONE! And booking well for school groups. Hope to have a demo DVD out soon.

Now I'm working on "Our Place in Space" for the 1st-3rd graders. Tight deadline (first school is booked for Jan. 9. Ack.) Fortunately it's a much simpler show visually.

What have you been working on?

I made some clouds for this: http://planetarium.ning.com/video/fulldome-particle-experiments I used instanced geometry in particle systems and used the composite nodes to soften them up a little. Highher resolution source objects would be better...

Nice! That puts my little bit of rain (and attempted clouds) for Duck to shame. But since you're making a humanesque character, you might want to be aware of the "uncanny valley" effect, especially, if Professor Photon will be lecturing to young c...
